(Kakamega) – Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has listed areas in three counties that will experience scheduled power cuts on Wednesday. The outages are expected to last from 9 am to 5 pm. The affected areas include parts of Nairobi, Kakamega, and Busia counties, as the company continues to carry out periodic upgrades to its gridline systems to ensure optimal performance.
In Nairobi, power outages will impact the Muthaiga area, including Brookside Groove, Matundu Lane, School Lane, Clarence Hotel, and adjacent customers. The Loresho area will also be affected, with disruptions occurring at the University of Nairobi, Kaumoni, Loresho Primary and Secondary Schools, Shamba Café, and nearby businesses.
In Kakamega, the Shimanyiro area will experience power cuts. Affected locations include Otiende Estate, Joyland, Rosterman, Mukhonje, Enjinja, Eshishiru, Shibuli, Emasai Mission, Shimanyiro, and Emaungu.
Additionally, parts of Busia county will face power interruptions. Affected areas in Busia town include Khetias supermarket, the DC’s office, the County Commissioners’ office, KPLC offices, Kisii East, Burumba, and surrounding areas.
Kenya Power has stated that the scheduled outages are part of ongoing grid system maintenance and upgrades to improve service delivery. The company also noted that these interruptions are necessary for work that cannot be conducted while the electric lines are live. Whenever possible, affected customers are notified in advance of the disruptions.
