(Nairobi) – Kenyan rally star Hamza Anwar is gearing up for a strong finish to the 2024 season at the prestigious Guru Nanak Equator Rally, scheduled from November 29 to December 1. Known for his relentless pursuit of excellence, Anwar aims to claim his first win in both the Africa Rally Championship (ARC) and the Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC).
After a brief hiatus from the FIA Continental Series following his third-place finish at the Pearl of Africa Rally in May, Hamza is back on the track, ready to compete against some of the top drivers in East Africa. This year’s Guru Nanak Equator Rally promises intense competition, featuring KNRC leader Samman Vohra in a Skoda Fabia R5 and reigning Kenya champion Jasmeet “Iceman” Chana driving a Fiesta R5. Adding to the excitement are rally champions from Tanzania and Uganda, including Yasin Nasser, who are expected to bring their A-game.
Fresh from his victory in the WRC3 Class at the 2024 Safari Rally, Hamza is determined to make his mark. Rally commentator Rob Styles nicknamed him “Problem Child” for his fearless attitude, and Hamza is embracing the title as he aims to dominate in the battle of the R5 cars.
“We are coming to win. We’re thirsty for success, so game on,” Hamza declared with confidence.
Hamza’s career highlights include competing in the FIA Junior WRC series in 2023, where he participated in international rallies such as the EKO Acropolis Rally, Rally Estonia, Rally Italia Sardegna, Croatia Rally, and Rally Sweden. He cemented his place in rally history by winning the WRC3 Class at the 2024 WRC Safari Rally.
