(Nairobi) – Britam has introduced “Malkia,” a comprehensive and affordable health insurance plan aimed at addressing the specific health needs of women in Kenya. This new wellness cover provides both medical and non-medical benefits, with premiums starting at just Sh620 per year, making it accessible to women across a broad range of income levels.
Designed to offer financial support for critical health issues, the Malkia cover includes a cash-back benefit upon the diagnosis of serious illnesses such as cervical, ovarian, and breast cancers. When policyholders are diagnosed with any of these conditions, they receive a lump-sum payment to help with medical bills and living expenses, followed by a second payment when treatment begins, ensuring ongoing financial support.
In addition to cancer coverage, the Malkia policy also addresses dermatological needs by covering treatment for conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Under this plan, dermatology benefits include consultation fees, prescribed medications, skin analysis, and necessary cosmetic procedures.
One of the standout features of Malkia is its AI-powered pregnancy support system, providing 24/7 real-time guidance for expectant mothers. This innovative support system offers advice on pregnancy care, mental health assistance, and timely reminders throughout pregnancy, continuing for six months after delivery.
“Female Wellness Cover (Malkia) stands by women through life’s toughest moments, offering peace of mind when it’s needed most. Whether facing a cancer diagnosis, managing skin conditions, or navigating the journey of motherhood, the cover ensures women have the support they deserve,” said Evah Kimani, Acting CEO and Principal Officer at Britam Micro-Insurance.
The policy’s benefits extend beyond health, including a last-expense benefit to assist families with funeral costs in the event of the policyholder’s passing. This feature is intended to alleviate the financial strain on families during difficult times.
