(Nairobi) – The Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE) saw a significant increase in revenue, earning KSh 637.1 million from the sale of 12,144 bags of coffee this week, a rise from KSh 429.9 million in the previous auction.
This week’s auction highlighted strong performance across various coffee brokers, with Alliance Berries Limited leading the pack. The company traded 5,162 bags of coffee, earning KSh 283 million. Minnesota Coffee Marketers followed closely, selling 1,587 bags for KSh 81.9 million, while Kipkelion Broker Company sold 1,455 bags for KSh 75.7 million.
In the auction, the highest prices were commanded by Ndundu Factory, part of the Thiririka Farmers’ Cooperative Society. The factory sold 142 bags of grade AA coffee for KSh 51,389 per bag. The coffee was sold by Alliance Berries Ltd and purchased by C. Dormans Ltd. Other factories that fetched high prices included Kagumoini and New Weithaga, both in Murang’a County, with prices of KSh 51,131 and KSh 51,002 per bag of grade AA, respectively.
Additional factories that performed well included Mutitu, Karani, and Wanjengi, all of which sold grade AA coffee at prices ranging from KSh 50,615 to KSh 50,873 per bag.

In the buyers’ category, Sasini Company Ltd purchased the highest volume, acquiring 2,775 bags of coffee for KSh 151.7 million. Taylor Winch followed with 2,598 bags, spending KSh 143.9 million, while C. Dormans Ltd bought 2,369 bags for KSh 132.3 million. Ibero Kenya also purchased 2,015 bags for KSh 95.4 million.
NCE CEO Ms. Lisper Ndung’u commented on the success of the auction, noting that 12 local and international buyers participated. She emphasized that the market rewards high-quality coffee grades, which encourages farmers to focus on producing the best beans.
“The auction system is transparent, and farmers are getting better prices through the online coffee trading system, which has replaced previous barriers to transparency,” said Ms. Ndung’u.
She also praised the growing acceptance of auction trading platforms among coffee farmers, highlighting that cooperatives and societies have gained more from the process.

The NCE CEO also highlighted the increase in the volume of coffee traded, with brokers delivering 7,800 bags of grade AA and AB, compared to 6,071 bags traded in the previous auction. This growth reflects both the improved quality of coffee being produced and the success of the auction platform in benefiting farmers.
