Six Russian Soldiers Wounded in Alleged Ukrainian HIMARS Strike on Russian Military Base in Belgorod

(Kyiv) – A reported Ukrainian missile attack on the Russian city of Belgorod left six Russian soldiers and one civilian injured on November 14, 2024. According to emergency service sources in Belgorod, the rockets, allegedly fired from the HIMARS system, were intercepted by Russian air defense, though some still hit the target. The strike is believed to have targeted a military equipment site on Sadovaya Street in the Belgorod region.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has not confirmed the attack, but it fits a pattern of strikes launched by Ukraine since January 2024. These attacks are often aimed at disrupting Russian supply chains and damaging key military infrastructure such as airfields, ammunition depots, and oil refineries, especially in regions close to the Ukrainian border.

Images from the scene, shared by local Telegram channels, initially showed damaged military vehicles near the targeted facility but were later removed. Eyewitness photos and satellite images confirm that the strike hit a building housing military equipment, though the exact type of munitions used has not been identified. The photos indicate that the rockets likely struck the building’s roof, and other missile fragments were found near the military facility. Some sources suggest the attack was not a random missile barrage, but a targeted strike on specific military assets.

This attack comes just days after another incident in Belgorod, when a Russian Shahed-136 kamikaze drone hit a residential building on November 11, injuring two people. While it remains unclear whether the drone was shot down or misdirected, the two incidents further highlight the ongoing and escalating nature of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, as Ukraine continues its efforts to cripple Russia’s military capabilities deep within its own borders.
