PostaPay Launches Seamless Mobile Payment App to Connect Mobile Wallets and Banks

(Nairobi) – PostaPay has unveiled a versatile mobile payment app designed to streamline financial transactions across all networks and banking platforms in Kenya.

The newly launched PostaPay app is a unified mobile payment platform that works seamlessly with mobile wallets and banks across Kenya. With over 5,000 users already registered and 21,000 successful transactions completed, the app is being touted as a user-friendly, cost-effective solution for Kenyans.

During a sensitization workshop held at Teleposta Towers, Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) Strategic Consultant Alice Gathoni demonstrated the app to officials, including the Director of Information, Joseph Kipkoech. She highlighted its unique features and ease of use, which align with the government’s push for digital transformation.

Postal Corporation’s General Manager of Payment Services, Joan Toroitich, emphasized the app’s ability to support both government and private sector operations. The app enables government agencies to collect and disburse funds, reconcile transactions in real-time, and manage payments, such as salaries, more efficiently. She urged Kenyans to download the app from major app stores using their existing SIM card lines.

The app’s standout features include:

Ms. Toroitich noted that the app is tailored to meet diverse financial needs, making it ideal for businesses, savings groups, and even farming activities. She added that the escrow feature ensures secure transactions, holding payments until goods or services are delivered, thus reducing fraud.

Rysper Cherotich, Manager of Payment Services at PCK, explained the app’s three wallet categories:

  3. User Module Wallet for individuals to send and receive money, pay bills, and buy airtime.

PostaPay aims to onboard 200 agents and 100 dealers nationwide while enabling over 100 small and medium enterprises to receive digital payments and access business loans.

The PostaPay app, developed in partnership with a Payment Service Provider (PSP), also facilitates transactions with platforms such as M-Pesa, Airtel Money, T-Kash, and banking services. It promises to improve government efficiency by reducing costs, increasing transparency, and providing critical data for policy-making.

Ms. Cherotich revealed ongoing campaigns to recruit users, onboard merchants, and raise awareness about the app’s potential.

PostaPay’s additional benefits include support for diaspora remittances and enabling businesses to adopt modern financial solutions, a critical step towards digitizing Kenya’s economy.
